The Gerbera is one of the finest perennials for producing long-lasting cut flowers. It is a spectacular choice for flower beds, patio containers, window boxes, or can be used as a houseplant. In cooler areas it can be treated like an annual.
The Gerbera Daisy is a tender perennial, native to the Transvaal region of South Africa and is known for its huge brilliantly colored flowers resembling large daisies. Gerberas are clump forming plants with slender spoon shaped dark green leaves. Blooms rise 12"-18" on naked stems, each stem bearing a spectacular 4" daisy like flower. Flowers can have single or multiple sets of rays.
HARDINESS: USDA Zones 9-11, Sunset : 8-9, 12-24
Can tolerate some frost but freezing temperatures will kill plant to the roots.
PLANTING SITE: Full sun to light shade; Rich, well-drained soil.
SIZE: Height: 15-24 inches; Spread: to 18 inches.
