Aloe microstigma is a medium size aloe from South Africa that can reach a height of about 24 inches. The incurved leaves are arranged in rosettes and are blue-green but can turn reddish brown during drought or very dry periods. Microstigma means 'very small spot' and conspicuous white spots appear on the leaves, which contrast well with the reddish teeth along the margins.

The Red Ponytail Palm leaves emerge bright red turning a bright green as they mature. It is very similar in appearance to B.recurvata but it is slower growing and hardier. Plants are most commonly single trunk with a huge swollen base topped with bright green leaves that spiral down from the central crown. The leaves grow to 6 feet long but are only about inch wide. Dasylirion acrotriche grows to 4-5 feet tall and wide, forming a dense rosette of green foliage. Over time it develops a stout short trunk. The leathery 2 to 3 foot long, ½ inch wide leaves have teeth along the margins and a spoon-shaped base that gives the plant its name. Desert spoon produces a narrow 9 to 15 foot-tall stalk covered with thousands of tiny greenish-yellow flowers. It is very similar to Dasylirion wheeleri, but has green foliage and faster growth. Dasylirion longissimum is a spectacular accent plant and great selection for high-traffic areas such as walkways and near entries. This grass-like plant does well in containers, and its symmetrical form provides a striking focal point. Its thin, stiff green leaves are completely unarmed, and have smooth edges. Yucca faxoniana is perhaps the largest of the native Texas yucca, typically reaching 20 feet tall, sometimes up to 30 feet. They grow in far west Texas, where they often form open forests that are spectacular when in bloom in late spring or summer. Most plants are single-trunk, some form clumps with trunks of different heights. The leaves are 3 to 4 feet long and 3 to 5 inches wide with stout spine tips. The trunk can form a diameter of 1 to 2 feet and is covered with a dense thatch of dead leaves that can be removed or left for a natural look. Flowers only once every 3-4 years producing clusters to 7' well above leaves. Very drought tolerant and soil adaptable if well drained. Cold Hardy to -4º F, Zone 7.
